The Beroukhim Laboratory
Rameen Beroukhim, M.D. Ph.D. - Principal Investigator
Rameen is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School. He obtained his Ph.D. from the University of Cambridge in England and his M.D. from the University of California, San Francisco.
Aoife Kearns - Executive Support (Administrative Assistant)
Bluye DeMessie -
Bluye is currently an
undergraduate student in Biology at Harvard
University. He is studying the response and resistance
to BET bromodomain inhibitors in medulloblastoma.
Brenton Paolella, Ph.D
Brenton received his
B.S. from University of New Hampshire and Ph.D. from
Dartmouth Medical School. His is working to identify
and validate cancer gene dependencies that are
associated with copy-number alterations.
Caitlin Nichols, B.S. -
Caitlin received her
B.S. from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. She
studies copy number changes in cell-essential genes
and telomere-maintenance genes as novel therapeutic
windows in cancer.
M.S.-M.D.-Ph.D Student, Computational Cancer Genomics
Jeremiah received his
B.S. and M.S. from Cornell University in Engineering
Physics before joining the Harvard MD-PhD program in
2010. He is interested in sequence assembly and
alignment, novel methods for detecting structural
variants in cancer, and developing mathematical models
to identify positive selection for rearrangements.
Meredith Brown, B.A. -
Meredith received her
B.A. in molecular biology and genetics from Skidmore
College. She is currently studying copy-number loss of
essential genes as a non driver-dependent, novel
cancer therapy. Her interests include transcriptional
regulation and epigenetic modifications affecting gene
Noah Greenwald, B.A. - Research Assistant
Noah received his
B.A. in biophysics from Harvard University. He is
currently studying next-generation sequencing
approaches to skull-base tumors.
M.D./Ph.D - Postdoctoral Fellow

"Mimi is always wrong" -- Rameen
Ruben Ferrer-Luna, Ph.D. - Postdoctoral Fellow
Ruben received his
M.Sc. from Spanish National Cancer Research Center and
Ph.D. from the University of Valencia in Spain. He is
now studying genomic approaches to selection of therapeutics.
Ryan O'Rourke, BA -
Ryan receieved his
BS in Animal Science from the University of Vermont. He
on pediatric brain tumor projects while preparing his
application for medical school.
Steven Schumacher, M.S. - Computational Biologist
Steven received his B.A. from Hampshire College and M.S. from Brandeis University. He is developing the computational infrastructure to study large datasets describing somatic genetic alterations in cancers.
Patricia Ho - Research Assistant
Tricia received her
B.A. in biology and music from Williams College. She
is currently studying mechanisms of resistance in
pediatric brain tumors.
Uri Ben-David, Ph.D. - Postdoctoral Fellow
Uri earned his B.Sc. and
Ph.D. from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. He is
studying the cellular origins, functional consequences
and potential vulnerabilities of aneuploidy and
chromosomal instability in cancer.
Wenya Linda Bi, M.D., Ph.D. - Resident
Linda receieved her BA
from Harvard University and her MD/PhD from Yale
University. In her free time, Linda enjoys- hahaha,
just kidding, Linda doesn't have free time.
Recent Lab Members:
Guillaume Bergthold, M.D., Ph.D
Guillaume received his M.D. from Louis Pasteur University in Strasbourg, France. He is studying genomic features of pediatric low-grade astrocytomas.
Peleg Horowitz, M.D. Ph.D. - Postdoctoral Fellow
Peleg received his M.D. and Ph.D. at Northwestern University and is currently in the Neurosurgery residency program at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. He is studying the somatic genetics of brain cancers.
Travis Zack, PhD - Medical Student
received his Bachelor’s degree at the University of
California, Berkeley and his PhD from Harvard in
Biophysics. Travis studied the interactions between
genetic events, and the specific dependencies implied
by these events. He is now pursuing his medical
doctorate at Harvard Medical School.
